Is UnitySelection affiliated with The Home Depot or any retailer?
No. We are a fully independent personal shopping service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or operated under license from The Home Depot®, Lowe's®, Ace Hardware®, Menards®, or any other retailer. All product names, logos, and brand marks are property of their respective owners.
What problem does this service solve?
Some people receive store-specific gift cards but don't shop there directly, aren't sure how to navigate the retailer's site, can't ship items to where they are, or simply prefer help. We act as your personal shopper: you tell us what to buy, we redeem the card and place the order, the items ship to you.
How is the service fee calculated?
A flat 10% of the product subtotal, with a $5 minimum. The fee is shown on your quote before you accept. We never mark up the retailer's product prices — you see the actual receipt.
How do you use my gift card?
After you accept the quote, we send you a one-time secure link to submit the card number and PIN. We then place the order on the retailer's site using the card as payment. We share the receipt and tracking number with you. The card details are deleted after fulfillment.
What if my gift card doesn't have enough balance?
Most retailers accept split payment. Your gift card covers what it can; you pay the difference plus our service fee on a regular debit/credit card. We'll show you the exact split on the quote.
What if the item is out of stock or the retailer cancels the order?
You get a full refund of any out-of-pocket payment, including the service fee. If your gift card was already redeemed, the retailer's refund policy returns the value to the card. We help facilitate any retailer-side resolution.
Can I cancel after submitting a request?
Yes — any time before we place the order with the retailer. Once the retailer's order has been placed, cancellation follows the retailer's policy.
Where do the items ship from?
Directly from the retailer's warehouse or the local store you chose, to the shipping address you provided. We don't touch the package.
Do you handle returns?
If an item arrives damaged, defective, or wrong, we coordinate the return on your behalf with the retailer. The refund returns to the original payment method (gift card and/or your card).
Is this legal?
Yes. Personal shopping (acting as an agent who buys goods on someone else's behalf) is a long-established legitimate service. We require customers to confirm the gift card was lawfully obtained, and we keep records of every order in case of disputes. We do not buy or trade gift cards — we only redeem them on your behalf to fulfill the order you approved.
Do you accept stolen, found, or unverified gift cards?
No. By submitting an order you confirm the card is yours and was lawfully obtained. We may decline orders or request additional information if anything looks irregular.
